Cleveland County Walks This Weigh!
On Thursday, October 2, 2003 at 12:15 p.m., Mayor Henderson greeted Norman residents in Andrews Park across from the Police Department before he led the first celebrity walk with over 60 people along Legacy Trails at 12:30 p.m. to kick-off Norman’s Walk this Weigh Campaign. This walk was the first of many walks with local celebrities to take place in Norman as part of the Walk This Weigh Campaign.
The Cleveland County Turning Point will be organizing celebrity strolls monthly, and sometimes twice a month, for the 2003 2004 school year at different locations around Norman. These walks will also highlight the different walking trails available to Norman residents and show how walking can be a fun and social activity with many health benefits. In addition, Norman residents will have the chance to walk and talk to a local V.I.P. who they might not normally get a chance to meet.
The Cleveland County Turning Point (CCTP) partnership is composed of over 90 individuals representing a variety of local agencies in Cleveland County. Some of those agencies include: City of Norman Parks and Recreation Department, Cleveland County Family YMCA, University of Oklahoma, Norman Regional Hospital, American Cancer Society, Cleveland County Health Department, and Health for Friends.
