Oklahoma Turning Point 2010 Policy Agenda

TOBACCO

  • Return rights of Oklahoma communities to take action on tobacco.

  • Remove loopholes in state law to prevent exposure to secondhand smoke in all indoor public places and workplaces.

OBESITY

  • Incentives/Mandates for programs that impact nutrition/health.

  • School Nutrition.

MENTAL HEALTH and SUBSTANCE ABUSE

  • Increase Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services Statewide with a special focus on transitional services for high system users. Other services to include inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment, services for incarcerated and tobacco cessation.

  • Increase parent support services through expanding evidence based approaches for families with young children such as but not limited to Children’s First, Oklahoma Parents as Teachers, Healthy Families America, and Parent Child Connection.

EDUCATION AND PREVENTION

  • Implement CDC's Coordinated School Health Model.

  • Funding for Development of Infrastructure for Safe & Healthy Communities.
